This website is run by the National Crime Agency in the UK.

We have developed this website to make sure it is usable by everyone, whatever their ability or disability. 

 This means:

How accessible is this website

We have built this website to be accessible with common assistive technologies and different ways of using websites.

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • the text will not reflow properly when you change the size of the browser window
  • text spills off the page when zoomed in on mobile view or at over 400%
  • iamge content in the header does respond to keyboard selection
  • there is a pop up box ‘Not ready to make a report yet?’ which is an unexpected change of context not recognised by screen readers

Non accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • There is no visible keyboard tab focus on the logo in the header ( WCAG 2.4.7Focus Visible) across all our website pages. This will be corrected in March 2023.
  • Horizontal scrolling is required when the page is zoomed in at 400% or viewed in mobile view (WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow). We are reviewing this and potential solutions in March 2023.
  • When the page is zoomed in at 400% or viewed in mobile view, the text spills off the page. When the user scrolls the extra page border is black. The black background fails with the text (WCAG 1.4.3 Constrast(Minimum))We are reviewing this and potential solutions in March 2023.
  • On our CEOP-reporting page A ‘Not ready to make a report yet?’ notice pops up when tabbing past ‘under 18 years old’ or if focus leaves the page. This is an unexpected change of context (WCAG 3,2.1 On Focus). We will be reviewing this with our audience and whether this feature can be replaced or removed, in March 2023.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

 This website will be regularly reviewed with manual audits and by scans with an automated testing tool by our website provider.

 We are working to correct any non-compliances as soon as possible.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 20.09.2022. It was last reviewed on 20.01.2023 

This website was last tested on 21.02.2020. The test was carried out by Netcel.

The level of accessibility was tested by running automated and manual tests that determined where areas of the site may be difficult for users with a wide variety of accessibility needs may have trouble accessing content.

We did manual and automatic report generation testing to determine where the sites didn’t comply with the desired accessibility level according to WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

For automated reporting we used :

  • Lighthouse in Google Chrome
  • WAVE chrome plugin

For manual testing we used

  • Chrome web developer tools
  • NVDA Screen reader (desktop screen reader)
  • Talkback for Android (mobile screen reader)
  • WCAG contrast checker.

 We tested inputs for :

  • Mouse (desktop)
  • Keyboard (desktop)
  • Touch (mobile and desktop)
  • Swipe (mobile screen readers)
